Dear Democrats In A Hurry To Pass Health Care Reform

Dear Democrats Who Feel The Need To Pass Health Care Yesterday Without Carefully Considering All Sides And Arguments,

Rushing to pass a monstrous health care reform bill that will straddle this country with more debt for generations to come is a sure fire way to get yourselves elected out of office. Not that that would be a bad thing, but it doesn't seem like you're think this thing through.

If it takes two more years to debate the intricacies of something that makes up 1/6th of the US economy, then at least you will have covered every possible angle. At least the people of this country will feel that the process was completed carefully and diligently. "Diligently" is the key word here. If you don't even have the language for a bill written and you're trying to rush it through to be signed into law, how can you follow due diligence? It isn't rocket science. Passing a bill simply because someone promises you something in return is unethical. Shame on you if you attempt a scam like that.

Patty Murray, Senator from Washington: I suggest that you look at more than one child's story. I suggest you poll a better cross-section of Americans to see what the majority of the people potentially footing the bill think of the deal you're spinning in DC. The people who will ultimately be paying for this atrocious beast-of-a-bill should be the ones who have the most say in what the bill looks like and how much it costs. Basing your decisions purely on emotions is expensive and neglectful. The world is not perfect and you cannot pay for your sins by spreading wealth and free benefits to those whom you feel are not as well off as you are.

Shame on you, Democrats, and your attempts to circumvent the Constitutional provisions for properly passing laws of these United States. Pushing President Obama's health care reform bill through Congress using underhanded and unconstitutional tactics will be the downfall of the Democrat party. It will most assuredly result in a complete loss of trust for your party. It will reveal to the American people just how power-hungry and shifty your party can be.

Think long and hard about rushing anything through Congress. Think long and hard about the implications of ignoring your constituents and even the will of the American people. Your seat is not there for you or your party to grab power; it is there for you to act based on the will of the people you serve.

I hope you make smart decisions while you're at the Capitol. Stupid moves you make today to serve your own interests have lasting implications for the people of your district and our country.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

The American People
