About Commenting

The 1st Amendment is a beautiful thing.

While I believe that even uneducated and clearly liberal parrots have a right to say what they want, thanks to the 1st Amendment, I have to wonder, as well: What's wrong with the majority of the armchair commentators who add useless, angry comments to blogs and discussion forums? Why the anger and hatred? When someone posts a comment that is so filled with unsubstantial, subjective vitriol, it removes all credibility (and arguably, any perceived intelligence) from the author, let alone the comment. That kind of tripe is wholly useless in great discussions and on well-written articles based in fact and on principle.

If you don't have something of substance to contribute to the commentary, then do everyone a favor: Keep yourself off the list of certifiable idiots by reserving your emotionally-driven and ultimately pointless comments to yourself. If, however, you have an informed opinion or even straight, verifiable fact, by all means, comment away! And, yes, opinions are as valid as fact. A comment is, in most cases, someone's opinion.

Make your comment count. Don't puke onto the page. Just like the real thing, it mucks up the information onto which it lands.
