On the Phoenix New Times website (http://phoenixnewtimes.com/slideshow/view/91521/6), there is a photo gallery of a protest that was brought about by a raid on illegal immigrants in Mesa, AZ by the Maricopa County Sheriff. Photo 6 (of 17) is of two guys holding a sign with images of the heads of Martin Luther King, Jr., César Chávez, and Gandhi.

It's difficult to know for sure what side those two guys are on in the protest.

If the two men holding the sign in the picture are protesting on the pro-illegal side, they look like idiots. Here's why: During Chávez's reign at the United Farm Workers, he advocated strict immigration regulations because it undermined US workers. In fact, along the Arizona/Mexico border, Chávez marched against farm owners who used illegals in the 60's. Yeah, he's a GREAT icon for illegal immigrants. Morons.

If they're anti-illegal, carry on. Come to our country, by all means, because it is an excellent place to live. Freedoms here are priceless and definitely a gift. But, do it legally, jackass.

The bottom line is this: If you cross the borders of this country in a manner that is contrary to Federal law, you break the law. Unless the law changes, there are zero excuses for you. You will be in the country illegally by doing so. Breaking the law makes you civilly or criminally liable. If you're escaping your country to avoid being assassinated, contact our State Department. If you're coming here because you can't find work or you want free health care at a county hospital, your should be arrested if you don't follow the procedures set forth in the laws of this country. Our public services are already taxed at maximum capacity.

Millions of others have come into this country legally. Yes, it's a process that's long and tedious, but it's the law and they all followed it. What gives anyone from Mexico the right to simply circumvent the procedures that those millions properly followed based on the law of this country?

It isn't about race, either. Knock it off with that line of shit. It's about LAW. You could be a Chinese man from Mexico City, for all it matters. You could be a German man living in Puerto Pañesco. Race is not the problem. If you cross the border illegally, you are an illegal immigrant from Mexico who happens to be Chinese. Race is a lame and ignorant ploy to turn it into a victim issue. It is about citizenship, NOT RACE. Get over it. Intelligent people can see right through that bullshit. It just so happens that 99.99% of the criminals crossing the border are of Mexican descent.
