"Ma'am" or "Senator" Barbara Boxer?

Dear Ma'am Boxer:

When a person of your position corrects a United States Brigadier General as to how he should addresses you, even though he'd been addressing you with full respect and courtesy, it makes you look like a pompous, arrogant, disrespectful brat (other, harsher words come to mind, but they're indecent). When the General addressed you as, "ma'am," he was doing so in a manner consistent with the way military men and woman have addressed people in your position (OR HIGHER) throughout the military's history. Military aside, "ma'am" is completely appropriate in addressing a U.S. Senator. The number of times I've spoken with members of Congress, I've used "ma'am" or "sir" without rebuke. Are you somehow above the rest of the members of Congress?

More importantly, how dare you speak that way to a man of that rank in our great military! What on earth could you have been thinking?! That man has served this country with incredible honor. You are a senator. You have not laid your life on the line for this country. You've simply been elected and sat in comfy offices and chambers. Shame on you! That was one of the single most ridiculous, most disrespectful lines I've heard out of Washington in recent history.

A woman of honor would apologize to the General for being a middle-aged, political hack, spoiled brat. If there was ANYONE in that room that deserved to be addressed in any special manner, it was the General. What's wrong with you? How can you be so ignorant and arrogant at the same time?! That man is a part of what makes it possible for you to sit on your pompous posterior in a cushy office.

I say it again, SHAME ON YOU! After that absolutely asinine remark, you are LAST person in history that deserves to be called, "Senator" anything.

Shame on California voters for being so blind as to elect a princess such as yourself. You're disgusting and your remarks were unbecoming of a U.S. Senator.

Sincerely,

An incredibly pissed off voter
(...who thankfully does not live anywhere near the District of Boxer.)
