Well, THANK GOD that Mr. Maher is around to point this out for us! What would we do without his CLEARLY enlightened view on the United States? I guess we'd just wallow in our pathetic lives, doing the stupid and pathetic things we do, like allowing our citizens to have freedoms many countries do not allow their citizens, producing miracle cures for diseases, protecting other FREE democratic nations from tyranny, just to name a few.

Mr. Maher, you used to be very funny. Somewhere along the line, you have sunk so lowly into the muck that is liberalism. You're blind to anything positive and you are especially blind to anything even remotely different from your own beliefs. You're sad to watch.

More importantly: You're an ass. This is still the greatest country on the face of the earth. The US has the most freedom (as long as Obama, Pelosi, and Reed don't heap their socialist/statist policies upon us), the best health care (maybe not the cheapest, but we're working on it), the greatest military (and, therefore, the greatest safety), and we're humanitarian (whether you believe that or not, we give plenty to other countries and peoples). Again, you are an ass for spitting on our great country.

Bottom line: Why are you still here, jackass? If this country sucks so badly, get the hell out. Dipshit. The more you rip on the US and the longer you remain a citizen, the more idiotic you make yourself out to be. If you think there is better, go there. You'd do us all a favor in doing so.
